This past weekend I had the privilege of shooting a wedding reception at the gorgeous historic home called the Rye Patch. The rustic hills of Aiken SC hide this gem of a house full of beautiful antiques and “old money” from horse racing. You can learn more about it here.
The exterior is all white, simple, decidedly country with big windows and special attention to the landscaping. The brick walkway wrapped around the house to a large patio on the side with French doors opening into the main room.
Inside there is a drawing room decorated in Traditional English style with a horse theme incorporated in every detail. Horse curtains frame the deep reds, greens and dark woods. There are horses racing along every pillow, every lamp, every carved surface and in the paintings. It’s like the classy version of a man cave.
Upstairs there are several open airy bedrooms with private baths and linen closets. The bedrooms and bathrooms were tied together in matching shades of cream. The vintage penny tile stole my heart in the first bath.
This is the first bedroom, facing the lawn and patio below. The large windows let in gorgeous natural light that compliment the soft creams. The handpicked quilt coverlet and vintage florals add a charming and comfortable appeal.
The second bedroom was incredibly sunny and cheerful as it faced the setting sun. It had matching hand painted headboards for the twin beds, crisp linens on the bed, and wicker chairs to read in by the windows.
The bathrooms both mimicked the green and white theme. How beautiful is that trellis wallpaper?
Bedroom three had gorgeous bird details in the fabric and artwork. It looked like it was strait out of a Pottery barn magazine.
I enjoyed visiting this house and wished I’d have taken more pictures of the other rooms, but it’s definitely worth a visit. It's one of the prettiest wedding venues I’ve seen. It had such flattering light situations, gorgeous gardens, and country details.
