Gervais & Vine

Last week I had the pleasure of shooting a bridal party at Gervais and Vine in the Vista. I was curious to see their menu. The party ordered hors d'oeuvres so we didn't try the entrĂ©es.
Pictured above are some ham and bacon quiche, olives, country sausage, cocktail shrimp and eggplant dip. I hate to be a downer, but I was less than impressed with their selection. The quiche were none other than your frozen-bought-in-sams-club quiche that are at every "little function" in Columbia. The olive selection looked like the hand selects from The Fresh Market. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. I wasn't able to taste the sausage or dip, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I guess I was expecting more creative and house made munchies.
like my trippy wine picture? ...weee!

The Southern Stuff

From the farm table: fried chicken (duh!), tomato with salt and pepper, biscuits, chicken and rice, ham, field peas, butter beans, collard greens, mac and cheese and potato casserole with pepsi and tea for drink :)
because that's what we eat down here in the south.

Poor Sick Honey

Pioneer Woman to the rescue!! I used her chicken noodle soup recipe tonight and I will vouch for it's yummyness. My noodles turned out tasty, but rather funny looking....and I might have used too much white pepper. Luckily my taste bud shot husband with a stopped up nose didn't notice too much.

Boo

I was cleaning the garage, opened a box and this beastly thing was looking at me. Scary.

Some of the Hubby's stuff

Charley just spent his day off making these valentine's day chocolate truffles with fresh strawberries inside for a private event.

And a little bit late, here is his latest wedding cake. Forgive the terribly lit pictures, he was working on a table in our garage. It was a very moist vanilla cake brushed with lemon glaze and frosted with lemon butter cream and fondant.

Why mopping happens alot

Juneau has discovered her passion for digging. She's been digging everything in the backyard. Fortunately it's just in the garden dirt and around stumps that need to get dug out anyways (she's helping us!). Unfortunately we just found that she's been digging to get to her backyard buddy. We got some bricks, but I almost wish they could play together. If it would stop raining it would make it harder to dig.

see the hole^

Winter Night

I think our city is pretty beautiful at night. If I were a man, with quite a bit more muscle than my current physique and wasn't scared of having my gear stolen, I would love to do more night photography. But since becoming a man is not in my list of things to do, ever, in life...I'm just snapping a few while i'm out with people. I just shot a bridal shower at Gervais and Vine and stepped out to take a face shot of the building. My next painting I'm planning is a night theme. I'm still working on composition but it has a lot to do with the blues and shadows.
Anywho, I'm curled up on our couch with cup of coffee, candles burning, the civil wars playing and  ordering some prints. Juneau is being such a good puppy and warming my feet. The problem: it's night time already. Night is pretty, yes, but it really stinks to have a schedule where you're awake only for a few daylight hours of the day.

Five things I like about this Tarte

1. It looks light and delicious
1. The delicate petal
3. It's both classy and casual, elegant and basic
4. peach and yellow color tones
5. It demands to be eaten
I did not take this picture :)

since when....

...could kids have such great style? This kid is adorable and I thought I'd share, but I really do think its the kid and not the clothes...no wait maybe it is the clothes. Actually it's the pants, I really want a pair of pants like that (first pic). Actually I'll take the whole outfit but I won't pull off being quite as adorable. You'll have to forgive me, I forgot where I found these advertising photos, but I believe they were charging extravagant prices for these outfits ( go figure) so I don't feel to bad.
